BNPB uses 14.3 tons of seed material to curb wildfires
Light to moderate rain was recorded in parts of Kalbar and Kotabaru, but target areas in Kalteng still did not receive rainfall.
BNPB deployed 14.3 tons of seed material in a weather modification operation to increase the chance of rain and speed up response to forest and land fires in several priority areas. The operation was carried out through 15 sorties. In Kalimantan Tengah, BNPB used 7,200 kilograms of seed material, consisting of 5,200 kilograms of dry ice to break up haze and 2,000 kilograms of sodium chloride for artificial rain through eight sorties. However, the target areas in the province still had no reports of rain. In Sumatera Selatan, seven sorties used 7,100 kilograms of seed material and improved visibility before noon. Light to moderate rain was also reported in Sekadau, Ketapang, Sintang, and Kotabaru. BNPB said land still under handling reached 3,392 hectares in Kalimantan and about 990 hectares in Sumatera.
