BMKG: Light rain to remain widespread in North Sumatera through Friday
BMKG warns of slick roads, reduced visibility and possible flooding; Batubara could see moderate rain at night.
BMKG forecasts light rain could still affect many parts of North Sumatera through Friday, July 17, especially from afternoon into night. At night, moderate rain is likely in Batubara. BBMKG Wilayah I Medan said the conditions are driven by atmospheric wave activity, wind shifts over the Indian Ocean west of Sumatera, warm sea-surface temperatures and unstable air that supports cloud formation. While the impacts are generally limited, BMKG warned of slick roads, reduced visibility and standing water in some areas. Air temperatures are forecast at 14-33 degrees Celsius, humidity at 60-100 percent, with winds of 3-9 kilometers per hour from the south to east. In monitoring on July 15, BMKG also detected six hotspots in Labuhanbatu Utara and Toba.
