Binance faces EU cutoff as Greece moves to reject MiCA license
What's next: Without approval by the end of June, the crypto exchange could lose access to EU clients from July.
Binance is poised to lose the right to offer services across the European Union after Greek regulators move toward rejecting its application under the bloc’s new crypto rules, Reuters reported, citing two people familiar with the matter. Under the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets framework, known as MiCA, crypto firms must secure a license by the end of June to keep operating across the bloc. Binance filed its application with Greece’s Hellenic Capital Market Commission. A commission representative declined to comment, citing confidentiality rules. Binance said it had worked with regulators for 18 months and believed its application met MiCA requirements.
