BI Governor Perry Warjiyo steps down, Destry acts as chief
President has received the resignation letter, while Destry Damayanti is named to lead BI on an interim basis.
Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo has resigned from his post, and President Prabowo Subianto has received the letter. State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi said the resignation letter from Perry was received on Sunday, July 26, and will be followed by a presidential decree on his honorable dismissal in line with the Bank Indonesia Law. At the same time, BI Senior Deputy Governor Destry Damayanti was named acting governor. Destry said Perry stepped down for personal reasons. Perry first took office as BI governor in 2018 and was reappointed for a second term in 2023.
