BGN removes 76 Java schools from MBG recipients
Funds for 39,352 students will be redirected to 3T areas and to pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers and toddlers.
The National Nutrition Agency has removed 76 schools on Java from the list of recipients of the Free Nutritious Meals program through Thursday (18/6/2026). BGN Deputy Head Agustina Arumsari said the schools were assessed as able to meet their students' nutrition needs independently, so MBG distribution was halted. A total of 39,352 students were affected. Funding originally allocated to those schools will be redirected to nutrition interventions for children who need them more, including schools in disadvantaged, frontier and outermost regions. BGN is also prioritizing distribution to pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers and toddlers. According to BGN, the number of schools removed could still rise because the updating of MBG recipient data is ongoing.
