BGN halts MBG during school closures from wildfires
Food cooked on the first day of closure may still be picked up by parents, but distribution stops during remote learning.
Badan Gizi Nasional has suspended distribution of the Makan Bergizi Gratis program when schools are closed because of forest and land fires. BGN chief Sudaryono said MBG distribution follows school operations, so during remote learning or emergency closures students do not receive food from the program. The only exception applies on the first day if a Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi kitchen has already bought ingredients and cooked meals. In that case, the food is still distributed through a mechanism coordinated with BPBD, local governments, school principals and parents so it does not go to waste. According to BGN, this arrangement has occurred in Kalimantan Barat, Kalimantan Tengah and Kalimantan Selatan. BGN has also issued SOP for handling MBG in areas affected by forest and land fires.
