Bezos bets AI will spur labor demand, not replace workers

What's new: At Paris' VivaTech, he tied that view to new venture Prometheus, focused on speeding physical manufacturing.

Jeff Bezos argued at the VivaTech conference in Paris that artificial intelligence will increase demand for workers rather than make people obsolete. The Amazon founder said worries about mass job losses are overstated and predicted AI could instead create a labor shortage by removing barriers that hold back productivity and new work. Bezos used the appearance to discuss Prometheus, his new AI venture aimed at accelerating physical manufacturing, a field already seeing deeper automation. He also sketched a broader vision for technology and space, saying the Moon should become a permanent outpost rather than a short-term destination. On Blue Origin, Bezos and CEO Dave Limp said rebuilding is underway after a recent launch-site explosion and that flights are expected to resume before year-end.
