Clash on Jalan Tambak Menteng Leaves 1 Dead
Police said the clash began after a breakfast customer felt poorly served and damaged a nasi uduk cart, triggering retaliation.
A clash between groups on Jalan Tambak, Kelurahan Pegangsaan, Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Sunday (26/7) killed one person and left another in critical condition. The two victims were evacuated to RSCM, but one died while receiving treatment. Head of criminal investigations at Polres Metro Jakarta Pusat AKBP Roby Heri Saputra said the unrest began around 10:00 WIB when a group arrived to buy breakfast. After feeling they had not been served well, they left while revving their vehicles, then returned with friends and damaged the nasi uduk seller's cart. Local residents then fought back, causing the clash to spread. Republika reported that several buildings and vehicles also burned during the unrest.
