BEM SI Threatens 'Reformasi Jilid II' as BIN Urges Unity

Students gave the government an 18-day deadline to stabilize the rupiah, or they plan a nationwide protest.

The All Indonesia Student Executive Board Alliance (BEM SI) has threatened to hold a protest titled Reformasi Jilid II after a national consolidation meeting that highlighted economic pressure and government policy. State Intelligence Agency chief Muhammad Herindra, speaking at the House of Representatives on Thursday, 11 June 2026, responded by calling on the public to maintain unity and solidarity. The protest call gathered momentum after BEM SI in Central Java gave the government an 18-day deadline to stabilize the rupiah, which briefly touched Rp 18.201 per U.S. dollar in early June. The demand was delivered during a protest outside the Central Java representative office of Bank Indonesia in Semarang on 5 June. BEM UI is also preparing further consolidation to address economic conditions and democracy under President Prabowo Subianto.
