Bea Cukai Morowali seizes 13,000 illegal cigarettes in raid
By the end of Q3 2026, similar enforcement in Morowali had targeted more than 2 million illegal cigarettes.
Bea Cukai Morowali seized more than 13,000 illegal cigarettes in a joint operation in Bungku Tengah and Bungku Barat districts, Morowali regency, on Oct. 7-8, 2026. The value of the goods handled was estimated at about Rp20 juta. The operation involved Polres Morowali, Satpol PP Kabupaten Morowali, and Subdenpom Morowali, targeting kiosks and retail shops.
Bea Cukai Morowali chief Muhariadi Angkat said the enforcement was intended to curb the circulation of illegal excisable goods that could reduce state revenue. In addition to seizing the goods, officers also educated traders on how to identify illegal cigarettes and the legal consequences. In some cases, retail traders who sell illegal cigarettes may face administrative fines under the ultimum remedium mechanism.
