Bea Cukai and Polri seize 30 kg of meth from Malaysian skiff in Asahan
One suspect was arrested while two others fled into the sea; the haul was valued at an estimated Rp239,84 miliar.
Bea Cukai and Polri seized 30 kilograms of methamphetamine from a fishing skiff believed to have come from Malaysia in the waters off Tanjung Api, Asahan Regency, North Sumatra, on Thursday, July 23, 2026. Officers found two white plastic sacks, each containing 15 tea packages bearing the Guan Yin Wang brand, for a total of 30 packages weighing about 30,000 grams. When the vessel was stopped, two people jumped into the sea and fled toward the shore, while one suspect was detained. Acting Director of Narcotics Interdiction at Bea Cukai Erwin Situmorang said an initial test using a Rigaku device showed the material was positive for methamphetamine. Bea Cukai estimated the seizure at Rp239,84 miliar and said it could prevent abuse by about 150,000 people.
