Baznas disburses Rp22 billion in scholarships for Palestinian students
The funds come from a special Palestine donation pool of about Rp200 billion, not from domestic zakat allocations.
Baznas RI distributed a first-round education scholarship package worth Rp22 billion for Palestinian students studying in Indonesia. The aid was symbolically handed over to the Palestinian ambassador at the opening of the VIII Indonesian Muslim Congress at Hotel Bidakara in Jakarta on 24 July 2026. Baznas chairman Sodik Mudjahid said the scholarship budget comes from a special humanitarian fund for Palestine that has reached about Rp200 billion, so it does not reduce zakat, infak, and sedekah allocations for programs at home. The program is run with Majelis Ulama Indonesia and Kemdiktisaintek for recruitment and support of recipients. Baznas also said it has coordinated with the Kantor Staf Kepresidenan on plans for physical infrastructure assistance in Palestine.
