Bayern's Kompany faces weeks out after collapse at training
What's next: Assistant Aaron Danks will lead Bayern at Freiburg as tests continue with Kompany still hospitalized.
Bayern Munich expect coach Vincent Kompany to miss weeks after he collapsed while watching the club's reserve team train and was taken to a hospital. Sporting director Max Eberl said Saturday that Kompany remained in stable condition as doctors continued examinations following what the club described as a virus-related episode. Assistant coach Aaron Danks will take charge for Sunday's Bundesliga trip to Freiburg. Kompany had been ill in recent days, missed a pre-match news conference before Bayern's Champions League draw with Arsenal, but still worked that game from the bench on Wednesday. Bayern said his coaching staff will handle training and match duties while he recovers.
