Bayern coach Vincent Kompany hospitalized after collapse at training
What's next: Bayern said Kompany is in stable condition, while his staff will handle training and Sunday's trip to Freiburg.
Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany was taken to a hospital after collapsing while watching the club’s reserve team train Friday. The 40-year-old Belgian had been dealing with a virus in recent days and missed a pre-match news conference earlier this week, though he was on the bench for Bayern’s 2-2 Champions League draw against Arsenal on Wednesday. Bayern said Kompany is undergoing medical examinations and will remain under care. Sporting director Max Eberl said the coach’s health is the club’s top priority. Until further notice, Kompany’s assistants will oversee training and match duties ahead of Bayern’s Bundesliga game at Freiburg on Sunday.
