Bareskrim raids casino in Nagoya Batam, 197 detained

Police seized Rp7,79 miliar, questioned 10 foreign nationals and brought the main suspect in the case to Jakarta.

Bareskrim Polri, along with Polda Kepulauan Riau and Polresta Barelang, raided suspected casino and gelper gambling at Nagoya Game Zone in Batam on Saturday night (15/8) and detained 197 people. Bareskrim deputy chief Irjen Nunung Syaifuddin said the investigation ran for about two to three months after reports from residents and local media. Of the 197, police identified an owner with the initials A, two managers, five cashiers, one supervisor, 25 chip exchangers, 65 dealers or bankers, two marketing staff and 96 players. Among the players, 10 were foreign nationals: seven from China, two from Singapore and one from Malaysia. Police also seized about Rp7,79 miliar in cash, a number of chips and dozens of gambling machines. Bareskrim is leading the case to map the roles and network involved.
