Bareskrim dismantles 2 gold-smuggling rings to Dubai, Hong Kong

Bareskrim Polri has broken up two groups that smuggled illegal gold from Indonesia abroad, one routed to Dubai and the other to Hong Kong. Bareskrim Polri Director of Special Crimes Brigjen Pol Mohammad Irhamni said the investigation is still expanding to detain suspects who remain in Indonesia, trace their assets and pursue suspects who have fled overseas. For the cross-border manhunt, police are preparing cooperation with Interpol and the Polri International Relations Division. Earlier, investigators arrested two Indian nationals suspected of smuggling gold to Dubai. In the case buildup, police also found a house allegedly used to process illegal gold by melting it into powder and then turning it into gel to fool airport officers, as well as a gold-processing workshop allegedly linked to shipments to Hong Kong.
