Bapenda DKI building in Gambir burns, 100 personnel deployed
Fire reportedly scorched nearly half the building on Jalan Abdul Muis; the cause and whether there were any casualties are still unknown.
The Jakarta Regional Revenue Agency, or Bapenda DKI Jakarta, building on Jalan Abdul Muis, Gambir, Central Jakarta, caught fire on Friday night. Jakarta Fire and Rescue Command Center received the initial report at around 21.30 WIB and first sent two fire engines with 10 personnel to the scene. As the blaze grew, the response was increased to 20 units with a total of 100 personnel. In its report, Jakarta Fire and Rescue said extinguishing efforts were still under way. The fire was reported to have burned nearly half of the building, while thick smoke was seen rising from the Gambir area. As of the time of reporting, firefighters were still trying to bring the flames under control so they would not spread to other parts of the building and nearby structures. The cause of the fire and any information on casualties were not yet known.
