Bandung police step up patrols at 4-5 high-risk spots
Police say the robbery pattern is no longer limited to weekends and can occur daily, with cases peaking before dawn.
Polrestabes Bandung has stepped up nighttime patrols after reports of street robberies rose in Bandung over the past two months. Each police sector now deploys personnel to four to five high-risk spots and has intensified patrols in the early-morning hours under Kegiatan Rutin yang Ditingkatkan. Police say the pattern of street crime has shifted: it is no longer concentrated on weekends, but can occur every day. In the latest series of cases, a resident named Azmy was robbed in a debt-collector ruse on Jalan BKR, Regol, on 14 July; three suspects were arrested in less than two hours. On 16 July, a 24-year-old man identified as U had his cellphone taken on Jalan Babakan Ciparay; one suspect has been detained, while another is still being sought. A day later, a man was reported injured while trying to hold on to his valuables in the Maranatha Campus area, Sukajadi.
