Bahlil seeks oil supplies amid Saudi-Houthi conflict

The government is widening oil diplomacy to more countries, including in Africa, to secure Indonesia’s fuel supply.

Coordinating Minister for Downstreaming and Energy Transition, who also serves as Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, said the Saudi Arabia-Houthi conflict has worsened global logistics flows and energy security. He said the escalation comes amid tensions involving Iran, the United States and Israel. Speaking at a national working meeting of Himpunan Pengusaha Pribumi Indonesia in Jakarta on Monday, Bahlil said the government is now lobbying a range of countries to maintain energy supplies, especially fuel for Indonesia. He said Indonesia will seek oil sources from anywhere as long as they are efficient and do not violate regulations. Bahlil said the current geopolitical situation is difficult to predict, making energy security the top priority.
