Australian national detained at Bali airport after Berawa incident
Immigration entered BA into the SOI system and stopped him from boarding a flight to Brisbane during departure screening.
Badung Police arrested an Australian national identified as BA, 27, at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport after he allegedly committed an indecent act in the yard of a resident's home on Jalan Pantai Berawa, Tibubeneng, North Kuta, Badung, Bali. CCTV footage of the incident was recorded and went viral on social media. Police identified BA from the recording and coordinated with the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office. Immigration entered BA's data into Subject of Interest in the Immigration Management Information System, allowing officers to detect him as he was about to fly to Brisbane on Tuesday at around 12.00 WITA. In an initial examination, BA admitted the act. Police are still searching for the foreign woman said to have been involved and have charged BA under Article 406 and/or 407 of the 2023 Criminal Code.
