Attack at Saudi King Fahd Airport kills 1, injures 8
The Dammam strike adds to a string of Houthi attacks on Saudi infrastructure after the incident at Shaybah oil field.
An attack hit King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday (21/10), killing one person and injuring eight others. Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation said all of the injured were taken to hospital, with conditions ranging from minor to serious, while material damage was still being assessed. The authority did not specify the type of attack or identify who carried it out. The incident came amid an escalation in the conflict between Saudi Arabia and the Houthi group in Yemen. The same day, Saudi Arabia's Energy Ministry reported that two people were killed and two others injured after air defenses intercepted a drone targeting a Saudi Aramco facility at Shaybah oil field. The series of attacks has increased pressure on the security of Saudi transport and energy infrastructure.
