Aston Villa drops legal threat against Carragher after apology
What's new: Carragher retracted his remarks a day later, calling his language "clumsy and wrong" and saying the jab was tongue-in-cheek.
Aston Villa has abandoned its threat of legal action against Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher after he apologized for comments about the club and its fans. Villa said Friday it would pursue action over what it called "unacceptable insults" made on the Stick to Football podcast, where Carragher told supporters to "shut the fuck up" and argued Unai Emery might want to manage "a giant" club again if the Manchester United job opened up. On Saturday, Carragher posted an apology, saying his wording was "clumsy and wrong" and that the remarks were intended as tongue-in-cheek. Villa later confirmed it would not proceed with the threatened case.
