Asset Forfeiture Bill Pushed for Completion in 2026, Govt Awaits DPR

Komisi III DPR is holding public hearings as the government holds back on the bill's substance until a formal initiative is submitted.

The government says it is ready to discuss the Asset Forfeiture Bill with the DPR, but is still waiting for a formal initiative from the legislature. Law Minister Supratman Andi Agtas said President Prabowo Subianto's directive is clear: work on the measure should be accelerated. At present, Komisi III DPR is holding public hearings and gathering input from academics, legal practitioners and other community groups. Supratman said a draft of the bill had already existed on the government's side, but a political agreement placed the DPR as the sponsor in the Prolegnas. The government has not yet taken a position on the text and will only present its view when formal deliberations begin. Earlier, Deputy Speaker of the DPR Saan Mustopa targeted completion of the bill in 2026.
