Asrul Azis, hajj quota suspect, files another KPK challenge
The second pretrial hearing at the South Jakarta District Court is set for July 24, even as the case file has entered the prosecution stage.
Asrul Azis Taba, a suspect in the alleged corruption of the 2023-2024 additional hajj quota, has filed another pretrial motion against KPK at the South Jakarta District Court. The petition, filed on July 17, 2026, no longer challenges his suspect status but tests whether the search and seizure was lawful. Case No. 121/Pid.Pra/2026/PN JKT.Sel is scheduled to begin hearings on July 24. Earlier, on July 6, single judge I Ketut Darpawan rejected Asrul's first pretrial bid over the suspect designation. KPK said it is ready to face the second challenge and that the legal basis for the search will be presented in court. The investigation was declared complete on July 14 with four suspects, including Yaqut Cholil Qoumas. BPK estimated state losses at Rp622 miliar.
