Smoke at KPK’s Merah Putih building traced to fogging
New: smoke came from the UPS battery room in the basement after fogging triggered the automatic fire-suppression system.
Smoke at KPK’s Merah Putih building in Kuningan, Jakarta, on Saturday was confirmed not to have come from a fire. KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo explained that the smoke appeared when fogging in the building area triggered the fire detection system, which then activated the automatic fire-fighting system. The smoke emerged in the basement area, specifically the uninterruptible power supply, or UPS, battery room. Officers then extracted the smoke and checked other areas to prevent further risk. Earlier, personnel from Sudin Gulkarmat Jakarta Selatan had come to the location after smoke was seen from the building.
