Arsenal make Piero Hincapie move permanent for £34.5 million
The 24-year-old Ecuador defender is tied to the club through 2031 after 39 appearances in Arsenal's title-winning campaign.
Arsenal have made the transfer of defender Piero Hincapie from Bayer Leverkusen permanent after activating a buy option worth about 34.5 million pounds sterling, or 40 million euros. The 24-year-old Ecuador international has signed a contract through 2031 with the London club. Hincapie initially joined on loan last summer and went on to make 39 appearances in all competitions for Mikel Arteta's side. During the Premier League season, he played in 25 matches, 20 of them as a starter, and helped Arsenal win the league. Leverkusen said the conditions in the buy option had been met, meaning Hincapie will continue his career in the Premier League.
