Apple briefly tops Nvidia with $4.88 trillion market value
What's new: Nvidia later edged back ahead by the close, showing how fast investor sentiment is shifting around AI winners.
Apple briefly overtook Nvidia on July 17 to become the world’s most valuable company, reaching a market value of about $4.88 trillion as Nvidia slid roughly 3% in early trading. Nvidia’s value dipped to about $4.84 trillion before the two swapped places again, with Nvidia finishing the day slightly ahead, CNBC reported. The reshuffle comes as investors widen their bets beyond the biggest AI chip names and reward Apple’s lighter spending model, upgraded Siri push and product pipeline. Nvidia, which had led since June 2025 and became the first company to cross $5 trillion in October, remains a central beneficiary of AI infrastructure spending.
