What's new: The AI startup's Japan tranche will fund working capital, operating costs and capital spending.
Anthropic plans to sell as much as $3.5 billion of stock to investors in Japan as part of its US initial public offering, opening one of the biggest AI listings to a market where IPO activity has slumped. A Monday filing showed the Claude maker will issue shares in Japan, with proceeds earmarked for working capital, operating expenses and capital expenditure. Mizuho Securities will run the Japan portion, while Goldman Sachs, Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities and Morgan Stanley MUFG Securities are among the firms handling orders. The filing did not give the IPO's total size or valuation, though investors have discussed a figure around $1.5 trillion.
