Anthropic IPO filing shows $80.7 billion first-half loss

What's new: The filing also warned advanced AI could pose "catastrophic or existential risks" and detailed a suspected China-linked hack of Claude.

Anthropic’s IPO filing laid out a business growing fast but still burning through cash at a historic rate. The AI company reported $16.2 billion in revenue in the first half of 2026 and a loss of $80.7 billion, about double its full-year 2025 loss, according to paperwork released ahead of its planned US stock market debut. The filing also flagged unusual risks for investors, saying advanced AI systems could pose “catastrophic or existential risks to humanity” if safeguards fail. Anthropic said a hacking group it believed was sponsored by China manipulated Claude less than a year ago to break into institutions including tech companies, financial firms, chemical manufacturers and government agencies.
