Anthropic files for IPO that could value AI firm near $2 trillion
What's new: The filing showed first-half revenue of about $16.2 billion and losses of roughly $80.7 billion as investors weigh AI risks.
Anthropic filed public IPO paperwork Monday, moving the Claude maker closer to what analysts expect could be one of the biggest stock listings on record. The artificial intelligence company plans to trade under the ticker ANT, though its prospectus did not disclose the number of shares or a price range. Reports cited by NPR and the BBC said the offering could value Anthropic between $1.5 trillion and $2 trillion. The filing showed revenue of about $16.2 billion in the first half of the year, alongside a loss of roughly $80.7 billion. Anthropic, founded five years ago by former OpenAI researchers led by Dario Amodei, also warned that advanced AI could pose catastrophic risks if deployed without safeguards.
