Antam gold price drops Rp20.000, buyback slips to Rp2,368 million
Kemendag recorded a 0.7 percent drop in global gold reference prices in early August, adding pressure on domestic markets.
Antam gold bars on Saturday morning fell Rp20.000 to Rp2.603.000 per gram from Rp2.623.000 a day earlier. The buyback price also weakened to Rp2.368.000 per gram, according to the Logam Mulia website. At the same time, the Kementerian Perdagangan set the export benchmark price for gold for the Aug. 1-14, 2026 period at 130.921,50 U.S. dollars per kilogram, down 0.7 percent from the second period in July. The gold reference price also fell to 4.072,12 U.S. dollars per troy ounce from 4.100,67 U.S. dollars. Director General of Foreign Trade Tommy Andana said the decline was driven by lower global demand, stronger major currencies, higher international bond yields and still-high interest rates, prompting investors to shift to other instruments.
