What's next: Yee was granted S$15,000 bail and is due back in court for a pre-trial conference on Sept. 18.
Singapore authorities filed four new charges against Amos Yee on Aug. 26, adding to three existing national service-related counts and bringing his total to seven. The new allegations accuse the 27-year-old of promoting racial disharmony through two April blog posts and a May 27 video, and of making indecent communications through a June 30 article and three 2021 videos that advocated sexual activity involving children. The court granted bail of S$15,000 with conditions barring him from posting online about pedophilia or material that could stir ill feeling between racial groups. X had already removed one video after police used powers under the Online Criminal Harms Act. Yee is due back in court on Sept. 18.
