China, TNI AL to hold joint exercise east of Taiwan

The People’s Liberation Army Navy and TNI AL will hold a joint navigation exercise in waters east of Taiwan Island in mid-August. China’s Defense Ministry said the activity will involve Chinese Navy ships and an Indonesian Navy frigate. Training will include communications and replenishment at sea. In a statement cited by ANTARA in Beijing, the exercise is aimed at improving the two navies’ joint operational capabilities, deepening pragmatic cooperation, and safeguarding regional peace and stability. The location is on Taiwan’s eastern side, facing the Pacific Ocean and the Philippine Sea.
