AirTrunk seeks A$4.3 billion for 400MW Sydney data center
Why it matters: The borrowing would help fund AI-linked capacity growth as lenders pour money into Asia-Pacific data centers.
AirTrunk, the data center operator backed by Blackstone, is seeking a A$4.3 billion loan to finance a new Sydney project, extending its rapid expansion across Asia-Pacific. The proceeds would support construction of SYD3, a hyperscale facility with more than 400 megawatts of capacity, according to people familiar with the talks. Banks have been approached to underwrite the five-year financing, though terms are still being negotiated and could change. The push comes as investors and lenders channel billions into digital infrastructure to meet AI-driven demand. Earlier this month, AirTrunk set out plans to invest about US$30 billion in India and is also marketing a US$2.3 billion syndicated loan for a Malaysia project.
