Air Canada captain charged over 17 years of alleged fake licensing

What's new: Police say Geoffrey Wall flew about 900 flights and earned millions before a routine review flagged forged documents.

A former Air Canada pilot faces fraud and forgery charges after Canadian police alleged he worked as a captain for 17 years without the airline transport pilot licence required for the job. Peel Regional Police said Geoffrey Wall, 59, of Ontario, began misrepresenting his credentials in 2009 after moving into the pilot-in-command role and went on to operate several Boeing aircraft on roughly 900 domestic and international flights. Investigators said a routine evaluation last year exposed inconsistencies in his licence records, prompting a Transport Canada review and a criminal probe. Air Canada said Wall was removed from duty after the documents were found, that he held a valid commercial pilot licence, and that its audit found no other pilot compliance issues. He is due in court on June 29.
