AHY Urges Criticism of Government to Come With Solutions Amid PDIP Row
The Demokrat chief said opposition is valid in democracy, but criticism should not divide the country and the government must allow review.
Demokrat Party Chairman Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono said criticism of the government is legitimate in a democracy, but it must be paired with solutions and not divide the nation. He made the remarks at the DPR Complex in Jakarta on Monday, June 22, 2026, as debate over PDIP's political stance drew attention from parties backing President Prabowo Subianto. AHY said each party has its own agenda, but national interests must come ahead of partisan interests. He said parties in government are tasked with overseeing state programs, while the opposition remains important for checks and balances. He also said the government must be willing to hear public aspirations and review policies when criticism is valid. Earlier, PKB urged PDIP to clarify its position and avoid the gray area, while PDIP said the party's stance is determined through internal decisions.
