Ahmad Ali claims NasDem ousted him after refusing political dowry
Ali said the move followed the 2024 congress, while NasDem had not responded to requests for comment by Sunday night.
PSI Executive Chairman Ahmad Ali claimed he was removed from NasDem after refusing a request for a political dowry ahead of the 2024 presidential election. In comments to CNN Indonesia and Tempo, Ali stressed that he did not leave voluntarily but was “thrown out” after the party’s 2024 congress left him out of the leadership lineup. The Central Sulawesi politician said he had been one of the people responsible for the presidential election and had previously served as NasDem deputy chairman. Ali also said he helped finance party needs, including the Cadre Alert Rally on 16 July 2023. He did not spell out what form the alleged request took. Tempo reported that NasDem Secretary-General Hermawi Taslim and Treasurer General Ahmad Sahroni had not responded to requests for comment as of Sunday night, 21 June 2026. Separately, Surya Paloh has said on several occasions that NasDem is committed to politics without dowries.
