After a fall in Mandalika, Mario Aji starts Moto2 from Q1

Mario Suryo Aji will have to continue his fight for a starting position through first qualifying (Q1) at the 2026 Moto2 Indonesian GP after crashing at Turn 1 in practice at Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit in Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. The Idemitsu Honda Team Asia rider said his main focus for review was his riding style, not the bike setup, ahead of Q1 on Saturday afternoon and the race on Sunday, October 11. Mario, 22, opened the weekend in 16th in FP1, then finished 23rd in practice after the incident ended his bid to improve his time. His best lap in FP1 was 1 minute 33,194 seconds. Elsewhere, Izan Guevara of BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 topped both FP1 and practice, and set a new Mandalika lap record with a time of 1 minute 32,337 seconds.
