Adonara clash kills 3, burns 20 homes
Seven people were injured, and hundreds of police and military personnel remain deployed at the scene as investigators probe the cause.
A clash between two youth groups in Adonara Timur District, Flores Timur Regency, Nusa Tenggara Timur, on Saturday morning killed three people, injured seven residents and burned 20 homes. The conflict involved residents of Narasaosina village and Waeburak village. Flores Timur police chief Adhitya Octorio Putra said all three dead were men, two from Narasaosina and one from Waeburak. Four injured people are receiving treatment, with two referred to RSUD Larantuka and two others sent to Lembata, while three with minor injuries were sent home after treatment at Rumah Sakit Pratama Adonara. Police said the clash broke out around 06.30 Wita and the cause remains under investigation. Earlier, the evacuation of one body was delayed after hundreds of people gathered around the scene. Security has now been reinforced to prevent further violence.
