Actor James Handy, 81, killed in Los Angeles stabbing

Actor James Handy, a veteran character actor whose credits included “Jumanji,” “The West Wing” and “Top Gun: Maverick,” died after he was stabbed at his home in Tarzana, Los Angeles police said. Handy, 81, was found Wednesday in the front yard with stab wounds to the chest and was pronounced dead at a hospital. Police arrested Michael Gledhill, 44, on a murder charge after investigators said he flagged down officers at the scene. The LAPD said Gledhill lived at the home with his mother, who was Handy’s girlfriend, and detectives believe the killing was an isolated incident with no broader threat to the public. Gledhill was booked at Van Nuys Jail, and bail was set at $2 million.
