90.2 Tons of Kratom Worth Rp4.96 Billion Destroyed in Semarang
The evidence came from an attempted export of 5 containers to India using forged documents that listed the cargo as coffee.
Bea Cukai Tanjung Emas together with the Semarang District Prosecutor's Office destroyed 3,608 sacks of kratom weighing 90.2 tons and worth about Rp4.96 billion in Semarang on Wednesday (4/11/2026). The evidence was burned in an incinerator at PT Global Enviro Nusa, Terboyo Industrial Estate, after the customs case received final and binding legal force. The kratom came from an enforcement action against the export of five containers through Tanjung Emas Port on Sept. 10, 2025. Laboratory tests by BLBC Kelas I Surabaya confirmed the shipment was Mitragyna speciosa. In the case, the suspects altered the invoice and packing list from 3,600 bags of kratom to 3,600 bags of foodstuff coffee. Investigators named four suspects, WI, AS, ME, and MR, in the customs document forgery case.
