An 86-year-old man was taken to Singapore General Hospital after a crash involving a motorcycle in Chinatown on June 5. Police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force said they were alerted around noon to the collision at the junction of Upper Cross Street and Eu Tong Sen Street. The pedestrian was taken to the hospital conscious, while the 21-year-old motorcyclist is assisting with ongoing police investigations. Photos circulated online showed passers-by attending to both men on the road before paramedics arrived. The case comes as Singapore has reported a rise in road danger, with traffic deaths reaching a 10-year high in 2025 and elderly pedestrian fatalities more than doubling from the year before.
