8 men indicted in alleged drone and sniper plot at White House UFC event

What's new: prosecutors added an eighth defendant they say was assigned as a sniper after seven others were charged last month.

A federal grand jury in Ohio indicted eight men on charges tied to an alleged plan to attack a UFC event on the White House grounds in June with explosive-laden drones and sniper fire. The two-count indictment charges all eight with conspiring to provide material support to terrorists and to commit murder on federal property, including a federal official. Prosecutors say the group aimed to drive attendees toward an exit by striking the north side of the White House with drones, then shoot people as they fled. The latest defendant, Chandler D. Scaggs, 21, of Chapmanville, West Virginia, was accused of serving as one of the planned snipers. The event, Freedom 250, went ahead on June 14 without incident after authorities moved in.
