Eight people died after a Security Aviation charter plane crashed Thursday near the Cape Newenham Long Range Radar Site in western Alaska, officials said. The Cessna 441 went down about 12:15 p.m. local time west of Cape Newenham LRRS Airport after departing Anchorage International Airport, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. Alaskan Command said rescue personnel confirmed there were no survivors. The flight was headed to a remote military radar facility that is part of a network used to track aircraft in Alaska's airspace and along its borders. ABC News reported the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate. Fox News, citing the NTSB's Alaska region chief, said two pilots and six passengers were aboard.
