Seven people were rescued after a fire tore through a three-storey semi-detached house on Tan Sim Boh Road near Whitley Road in Singapore early on June 24. The Singapore Civil Defence Force said it was alerted at about 3.30 a.m. and found the first and second floors burning, with the third floor also affected and the home filled with smoke. Firefighters rescued two people from the first floor and used a ladder to bring five others down from a second-floor balcony.
