6 Miss Universe contestants pulled from Puerto Rico pageant
What's new: Singapore's titleholder will now aim for Miss Universe 2027 as a franchise fight clouds eligibility for six Southeast Asian entrants.
Miss Universe Singapore 2026 Vion Erico Tan will not compete in the Miss Universe pageant in Puerto Rico on Nov. 24 after organizers tied to one side of a franchise dispute decided not to send six Southeast Asian titleholders. The affected contestants are from Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia and Laos. Miss Grand International said it lacked enough assurance that the women would be allowed to participate and be treated equally after JKN Universe challenged the validity of franchise deals in those markets. The Miss Universe Singapore Organisation backed the move and said Tan will keep preparing with hopes of representing Singapore at Miss Universe 2027.
