Emergency services were dispatched to the site, but the victim could not be saved. Catalan police have opened an investigation into the incident. Sources cited by different media gave varying details on the cause: BBC reported the victim was believed to have died from "an impact," while Antara said the worker fell while painting a construction platform. Barcelona expressed condolences and said it would provide support to the victim's family, friends and co-workers. The Camp Nou renovation project began in June 2023 to increase the stadium's capacity to 105,000 spectators and is scheduled for completion in early 2028.
