5 teens arrested after stealing 2 cars for Punggol joyrides

Five teenagers were arrested in Singapore after allegedly stealing two cars in Punggol and taking them on joyrides without driving licenses. Police said the group, four males and one female ages 15 to 18, gained access to the vehicles after transponder keys were left on the cars' tires along Ponggol Seventeenth Avenue. Officers were alerted June 6 at about 4:35 p.m. and later identified the suspects through CCTV, police cameras and ground inquiries. The two vehicles were recovered. Four of the teens are set to be charged June 10 with motor vehicle theft under Section 379A of the Penal Code, while investigations are continuing against a 16-year-old boy.
