40 of 75 traditional houses in Sade, Lombok Tengah, rebuilt
A mosque, museum, bale bengong and public toilets are also under construction, while business aid is being distributed to revive the local economy.
Forty of 75 traditional houses in Desa Adat Sade, Lombok Tengah, Nusa Tenggara Barat, have been rebuilt and now have roofs installed after a fire in late August 2026. After the emergency response ended on Sept. 20, recovery shifted to rebuilding the traditional houses, public facilities, utilities and safety systems. The reconstruction design, developed by InJourney Tourism Development Corporation with Universitas Mataram and the indigenous community, has been completed, with technical support from the Ministry of Public Works and the Ministry of Housing and Settlements. Construction of a mosque, museum, bale bengong and public toilets has also begun. The government is preparing a mechanism to distribute donations to affected families, while the Ministry of Tourism is providing raw materials, working capital and production equipment to restart residents' businesses.
