4-year-old toddler dies trapped in house fire in Maros
Three other occupants escaped, while Maros firefighters suspect a leaking gas cylinder regulator sparked the blaze.
A 4-year-old girl, 10 months old, died after being trapped in a fire that swept through a stilt house in Maros Regency, South Sulawesi, on Thursday (18/6) before dawn. The Maros Fire Department received the report around 01.40 WITA and deployed several vehicles to extinguish the flames and carry out cooling operations. Maros Fire Department chief Jufri Samad said one house and one motorcycle were burned to the ground. The victim, the daughter of the house owner identified by the initials CAJ, was found dead after the fire was put out. Three other residents survived. The initial suspicion is that the fire was triggered by a gas cylinder regulator leak, but the exact cause remains under investigation.
